(Denver – CO) – Rudy Project proudly announces new head-turning Fluo color options for their highly engineered and totally revolutionary aero time-trial helmet, the Wingspan. The wind tunnel-tested Wingspan, scientifically designed for speed and proven to beat out three competing aero helmets in time simulation tests, made its debut in 2009, taking the cycling and triathlon worlds by storm. This year’s striking new colors are sure to reaffirm the Wingspan’s spot as the hottest accessory on the roads today.
“We’ve taken the radically versatile design and unparalleled aerodynamics of the Wingspan and added the sleekest, safest, most standout colors imaginable,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of Rudy Project North America. “When we launched the Wingspan in 2009, we knew it would turn conventional thinking about the performance and comfort of aero helmets on its head. Without question, the Wingspan is the best aero helmet on the market – made even better with the new Fluo colors,” he continued. “We’ve had a wait-list for them since news of the new colors first leaked. Just wait until you see these babies on the race course!”
The Wingspan from Rudy Project is the latest aero helmet from a manufacturer that has been a groundbreaking pioneer in time-trial helmet designs. Originally available in matte colors Black/Silver, White/Silver and Red/Blue/White, and now the vibrant Fluo Green, Fluo Yellow and Fluo Pink options, the Wingspan has received high praise for its unique shape and eye-catching looks. The design features removable vent covers and 15 possible venting configurations, creating substantial airflow and a customizable cool ride. The mesh front vent cover is perfect for use in a triathlon and can be replaced with a closed front vent cover for use in time-trial events. The Wingspan includes massive exhaust vents designed for ideal cooling and, for the purest of aerodynamics, a removable tail cover that greatly reduces any turbulence created at the rear – an industry first. Rounding out the premium package are fully incorporated ear covers to reduce drag and Rudy’s R.S.R. 7 Disc retention system for easy on-the-fly adjustment. All this at only 310g (with vent and tail covers removed) – 330g (with all covers in place).
Designed with the aide of legendary aerodynamics guru John Cobb, the Wingspan has undergone extensive wind tunnel testing to secure its place as the best TT helmet on the market. Through this testing, Rudy Project and Cobb developed the Wingspan’s unique tail design that works ideally for all TT positions and back profiles, specifically the “flat” and “U” shapes most people display. The Wingspan’s incredible versatility and category-leading design can be applied to any rider with optimal results, making it the racing helmet of choice for any serious triathlete or competitive cyclist.
