For
the second consecutive year, Team Rudy Project’s Lara Block of North Miami Beach was ranked second in the 35-39 age
group for the 2004 All-American Duathlete honors
in the Inside Triathlon January 2005 issue.
Beth
Burchill of Rochester, N.Y., was first. Burchill finished
ahead of Block by 12 seconds at the Duathlon
World Championships in May in Belgium. Burchill
was fourth overall and Block fifth.
Block will be completing her yoga teacher
training in January, and is striving to find
a balance between yoga and triathlon.
''The
two disciplines [triathlons and yoga] are complimentary
to each other in the physical aspect but quite
different in their mental aspects,'' Block. ``Triathlon
is win-win-win. Yoga is no ego, non-competitiveness.''
A
1989 University of Miami graduate who grew up in
Johannesburg, South Africa, Block is married with
three kids. She works full-time running a hedge
fund business (Magnum US Investments) based in
Aventura and Friedland Art, a wholesale art company.
