Team Colorado Sailing successfully defended it’s 2003 victory at the Colorado Governor’s Cup regatta by winning this year’s J24 Class at the 2004 Colorado Governor’s Cup Regatta in six races held Saturday and Sunday, September 18 & 19 on Cherry Creek Resevoir in Denver, Colorado.

Battling winds between 20-30 knots over the two-day regatta, Team Colorado Sailing won the J24 class with 3 first place finishes and 3 second place finishes to secure their second consecutive Governor’s Cup Victory by a narrow one-point margin over the second place finisher from Denver.

“The competition was excellent this year and the high wind conditions really put all of the competitors to the test”, said Scott Snyder, helmsman for Team Colorado Sailing. “Our team work was excellent throughout the entire weekend and enabled us to over-come some of the most challenging conditions we’ve faced all year long,” Snyder said.

The Victory at this year’s Colorado Governors Cup concluded an excellent season for Team Colorado Sailing which included regatta victories at the Lake Dillon Stars & Bars regatta, The Dillon Yacht Club Double-Handed Regatta, and top 10 finishes at international race week in Bermuda, Southwest J24 Championships in Fort Worth Texas, and the District 18 Championships.regatta. Team Colorado Sailing crew members includ Scott Snyder and Joe Quarantillo of Dillon, Christopher Tittsworth, Ladd Parrish, Jeremy Irwin and Dave Ciesla of Denver, Colorado.

The 2004 Colorado Governor’s Cup, which is held annually on Cherry Creek Resevoir in Denver, Colorado, featured over 60 sailboats competing in over 10 different classes.
