Olympiastadion München June 25, 2011

200m Swim – 6km Bike – 2km Run

Premiere for the quickest triathlon world-wide promises an exciting showdown in the with the women´s race between Anne Haug/GER & Yvonne van Vlerken (NED/Endurance Team Austria). Short Distance VS. Long Distance on Ultra-Sprint Distance.

Coming Saturday the olympic stadium in Munich will be the triathlon hot-spot of a special kind.

For the first time top athletes will finish a complete triathlon in a stadium and that three times on that day, because before the finals will take place, the elite will already have raced themself through the quarter- and semifinals on the distances 200 m of swimming, 6 km on the bike on a 1km-circuit in the stadium and 2 km of running.

The expected duel for the female title will probably take place between Anne Haug, currently Germanie´s most successful short distance athlete, and Yvonne van Vlerken who could prove quite several times her final speed at sprint decisions (

The other ladies who will definetly put it on the line are Kristin Möller, Dana Wagner (both GER) as well as Luxembourg´s Sophie Margue.

In the men´s race top-starters are Timo Bracht/GER and Dirk Bockel/Lux who must assert themselves against some young short distance aces.

Yvonne van Vlerken (quote): „I am pleased about the event and the new format. Looking at the race-distances everything is possible and a lot will depend on the right tactics, because the distances are not really allowing to get major leads in one of the disciplines. I am prepared for some hard minutes and sprint decisions. Usually they fit me pretty well.“
