Sterling_Right_Side_Isolation

Competitive roller skating is a sport growing in popularity in the United States. Athletes can reach speeds up to 20 miles an hour, which means that a solid helmet can come in handy in case you hit the deck. Rudy Project athlete and writer Ben Brown reviewed the much-loved Sterling as the helmet that he currently trains and races in. Read his full review.

Rudy Project in Trek Stores

-Tralyx_treksegafredo

In case you missed it, select Rudy Project sunglass styles are expanding into Trek-owned stores and retailers all across the US. Rudy Project eyewear is currently in nine Trek stores, and looking to expand into 22 more before the end of the year. The agreement grew naturally out of Rudy Project’s sponsorship of the Trek-Segafredo pro cycling team as the Official Eyewear and Prescription Solution partner. Some of these models, like the special edition Trek-Segafredo Tralyx, you can’t find anywhere else, so find your local Trek retailer today.

How Will You Eclipse?

Jordan Rosen - Rudy Project - 2017 Eclipse

A friendly PSA reminder to all of our friends in North America – you need proper eclipse viewing eyewear to watch the eclipse (remember you’re looking straight at the sun). As dark as Rudy Project lenses get, they’re STILL not dark enough to look right at the sun, whether it’s fully or partially obscured by the moon. You can find a list of trusted eclipse glasses retailers here – and be sure to check the certification on any glasses you purchase, they need to be ASO certified. Read the full blog.

Rudy Project Pro Teams Fought Hard During the Tour de France

bettiniphoto_0291434_1_originali credited

The 2017 Tour de France reminded riders that it’s one of the toughest endurance challenges in cycling or any sport. The race was anything but boring for riders in Rudy Project – Teams Trek-Segafredo and Bahrain-Merida battled windy stages and crash-ridden courses during the 21 day, 3450 km race, earning a spot in the top ten GC, a stage win, and two Most Combative Rider awards.

Rudy-NewsReview-athlete corner

Mike Wien started racing triathlons when he was 50. He progressed from a sprint to his first full IRONMAN in just two years after being a runner for decades. Then, after he took second in his age group at Kona, he joined the Timex Multisport Team, a team of 48 made up of half pros and half age groupers. Age groupers on this team are no slouches though – at age 65, Mike finished Whistler in 12:44:04. He also happens to be the VP for the USA Triathlon Board of Directors. He joined us for a Q&A after taking first in his division at IM Canada.

RP: What do you love about Team Timex?
MW: There are 48 of us, and we’ve evolved from a group of athletes to a close knit family. I love being a part of this family.
RP: What go you into triathlon?
MW: I was a runner. I ran to stay fit and keep my weight down.  I love to eat.  I also love to ski with my two adult boys and running kept me in shape to be able to have the endurance to keep up with them enough so they would still ski with me.
RP: Favorite Rudy Project product?
MW: My Wing57 aero helmet – I like the aerodynamics, the air flow through the helmet and the ability to shoot water on my forehead to cool me down. This is critical when riding through 112 miles of lava fields in Kona or any hot endurance bike race. I also wore the new Rudy Project sunglasses with the lenses that automatically change for the brightness of the sun for the first time at the Canada Ironman in Whistler. During the race, the weather kept changing from cloudy to sunny. I quickly learned to appreciate this feature of automatically adjust for the darkness to the environment.
RP: Bucket list race?
MW: Well, it was the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. While I have raced there multiple times, it is still an experience of a lifetime. Now it would be competing in interesting places. France, Spain, Switzerland, and South Africa, New Zealand, and China to name a few.
RP: Anything to add?
MW: I am proud to represent fellow triathletes as a board member and Vice President of USA Triathlon, the governing body for triathlons under the US Olympic Committee. We are dedicate to bringing more people into the sport and help them live healthy and exciting lives with passion and purpose.

Rudy-NewsReview-expert bro

The Bro Corner is back! Rudy Project sponsors athletes at a bronze level all over North America, every sport from biking to rollerblading to skiing to speed walking. This week we’re featuring Tracy Disabato-Aust, who has been a Rudy Project triathlete for the past 7 years.

tracy aust

Paul Craig and all the staff are fantastic people and have been a delight to work with.  No matter if I’m racing a local, a national, or a world event my bright pink Rudy Project Wingspan helmet gets tons of attention as do my various cool Rudy Project shades. Which are normally in various pink, neon yellow, or bright white fun colors.
Rudy has been with me when I won 3 USAT  sprint age group national champion  titles and when I won AG Sprint Gold at Budapest Worlds in 2010 and Silver at Beijing  Worlds in 2011. But most importantly they continued to stand by me when building back from hamstring reattachment surgery and breast cancer this past year.  Happy they are racing, and winning, with me again just 8 months post radiation.”

Debuting in 1992, the Aggressor was on the cutting edge of sports and performance optics. Worn by Slovakian mountain biker Peter Hric who took bronze in the 1992 UCI Mountain Biking Championship, this design is so retro it’s practically back in style. How about those purple lenses?

Spent the past week in Guatemala helping the locals of Chichicastenango get urgent care. We treated hundreds of patients by performing oral surgery and sometimes a simple prophylaxis, or cleaning (pictured), made a powerful difference. Showing compassion and delivering quality care, my ASDA team and I did our part to take care of the Guatemalan people as they welcomed us into their lives. They showed us happiness and fortitude despite living in much tougher conditions
